Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have conducted invitations to apply (ITAs) in the most recent Express Entry draw. This was the first invitation round guided by the department in October. The IRCC department allocated 1,613 ITAs in a draw that only considered Express Entry candidates with a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination. Invited candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 743 to be qualified for an invitation.
The latest Express Entry draw was held for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. If invited to this express entry draw, you will have 60 days to submit a complete permanent residence (PR) application to the IRCC department.
Type of draw: Provincial Nominee Program
- Number of invitations issued: 1,613
- Rank needed to be invited to apply: 1,613 or above
- Date and time of round: October 7, 2024
- CRS score cutoff: 743
- Tie-breaking rule: March 22, 2024, at 18:36:54 UTC
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the CRS score cut-off will be based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
What is Express Entry PNP Draw?
Express Entry is an application management system that was launched in 2015 to help IRCC select financial immigration prospects with the capacity to fill urgent labor force gaps. The Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws are a key part of Canada’s immigration system, helping provinces and regions select skilled workers who can contribute to their provincial economies. When candidates receive a provincial nomination, it increases their CRS score by 600 points, virtually assuring them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next draw. This draw continues a trend of IRCC focusing on PNP candidates, which aligns with the provinces’ need to tempt talent in sectors like healthcare, technology, and trades.
Candidates who apply to any of the three programs managed by Express Entry (the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the CEC) are evaluated using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The CRS evaluates prospects based on their human capital aspects. These include work experience, age, language ability, education, and profession. Candidates can also get additional points for immigrating with a spouse or partner, having a sibling in Canada, or having work experience or education in Canada. Each factor adds points to a prospect’s overall score and the higher the score, the more probable the prospects will get an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw, relying on the draw style. These express entry draws help them address local labor needs by selecting skilled workers with appropriate experience and qualifications. Some popular regions include Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
